| The trend of the MAR plate
boundary changes gradually as it comes on-shore from the Reykjanes
Ridge to the Reykjanes Peninsula. On Reykjanes Peninsula,
horizontal GPS vectors (black arrows; data from Hreinsdóttir et
al., 2001) indicate that the plate boundary bends toward the southwest
as it approaches the offshore portion of the ridge. |
